Pack details & selection guide ↓
Which grit should I start with?

Start at 36 for heavy stock removal or 60 if your blank is already close to shape. Use 120 to refine the grind. If 120 is taking too long to clear the 60-grit marks, add an 80-grit step.

Grit

Which grit should I order?

Single-grit refill options
Grit Common grinding task
36 grit Heavy stock removal and rough profiling
60 grit First grit for grinding bevels or stock removal
80 grit Further bevel and scratch refinement
120 grit Refining the scratch pattern before finer abrasives

Use 80 as a bridge if 120 is slow to clear the 60-grit marks. The knife grinding grit guide explains how to tell when to move up a grit.

Will these belts fit my grinder?

Check your grinder manual or the size printed on your current belt. These belts are 2 inches wide and 72 inches long. If your grinder calls for 2 × 48 inches or another size, order that size.

Is this a mixed pack?

Quantity 1 is six belts in one selected grit. If you want a mix, the Ceramic Trial Kit includes two each in 36, 60, and 120 grit. The grinder is sold separately.

Ceramic or aluminum oxide?

Choose ceramic when you still have steel to remove, such as during profiling or bevel grinding. For lighter cleanup or finer scratch work on flats, try X-weight aluminum oxide. For a satin finish, switch to surface conditioning after you’ve cleared deep grinding scratches.

Belt construction

USA-made belts with BORA-7 ceramic grain, Y-weight polyester cloth backing, and a resin-over-resin bond.
